More than a digital service: preparing for registration

Building a new service is about far more than what you see on screen.

From autumn 2026, visitor accommodation providers in Wales will need to register with the Welsh Revenue Authority (WRA). Since the WRA launched in 2018, our approach has always been to support people to get things right first time and we’re applying the same approach to registration. We are working hard to make sure that when registration opens, you have everything you need to complete the process simply, correctly and confidently.

Designing a registration number that works across the sector

Since joining the Welsh Revenue Authority (WRA) 7 months ago, I’ve been working with WRA colleagues to help accommodation providers prepare for a significant change. We’ve reached a significant milestone in building the visitor accommodation registration service. We have now completed the end-to-end ‘simple route’ journey. For the first time, a user can move through the service from start to finish. They can enter their details, add their premises, confirm the information and receive a registration number.
